Project summary guidance

Visitors to The Big Bang

Entry into the 2011-12 round of the Competition has now closed. If you are preparing your project for the next round of the Competition, then please read the guidance below.

If you are entering a team project, you only need to complete one team entrant form for the whole team. One member of the team (or a teacher/parent acting on behalf of the whole team) should enter all the relevant information into one form.

Project summary

Remember that the judges have absolutely no knowledge of your project so you should ensure that you clearly explain the following:

For two examples of project summaries that impressed the judges in previous years, have a look at these:

Example Junior Science/Maths project summary  - Douglas Oates's project summary
(Douglas won the top prize in this category in the 2009-2010 round of the Competition)

Example Senior Engineering/Technology project summary - Tom Ladyman's project summary
(Tom was highly commended in the 2010-11 round of the Competition)

Note that these are just two examples of project summaries, you do not need to follow them exactly as your project may not fit into these particular styles, but you can see that they do include all the information the judges will need in order to make a decision about the project and whether to offer a place in the Competition finals. Your project could be amazing but if you don't clearly explain it to the judges they are unlikely to be able to tell how good it is.
